On October 28 , 2009 my life has a new meaning

Less than two weeks to go!

38w3d3Photo: 38 weeks & 3 days

I cannot believe that in less than two weeks I will be holding my little peanut! Yesterday I finished the baby’s laundry, packed my diaper back, zipped up my hospital bag, made sure the temperature is just perfect, turned on the baby monitor for a final testing, dusted, washed the furniture, added more pages to my baby book on blurb.com, and finally rocked on the rocker for about an hour playing music for the little one where eventually I fell asleep for a bit.

I’m soooo ready!

come baby come!

Things I CAN Live Without

page-672

Things I can live without………..

The phone… Because I just hate awkward pauses!

The television… Because I’m sick of sports.  I mean really, there couldn’t have been a one month break between football and baseball? Why do they have to overlap each other? One month a year -that’s all I’m asking for.

Pillows… Because that’s how I roll

Purses and wallets… Because they just annoy the heck out of me

Hiccups… Seriously, is this some sort of a life punishment?

Jewelry… Because I like my wrists and neckline just the way they are

Spiders… So this is how it’s going to be living in a house? I gave up one roach a year for a million spiders? hmmm…

Diet… Because I like just the way I am and so should you

Mean people… Because they just suck!

And one thing I canNOT live with out - CHOCOLATE!

Honeydew

honeydewSome websites measure fetuses in the size of fruit. So right now my baby is supposedly the size of a honeydew. (I’m so happy (s)he’s no longer a raisin!).  But since he’s measuring about a pound ahead, (s)he’s more likely a watermelon –much more delicious if you ask me!

I am 33 weeks today with about 50 days left till my due date… 50 days seems impossible. I did my math and if on average a baby grows half a pound a week and I have seven weeks left, my baby will be almost 10 pounds ::gulp::

At this time it seems that all I do is think, talk and sleep –baby.  Everything is Baby, Baby, Baby. I hope I didn’t forget how to take a picture!  But at least I got my 40D fixed ::YAY!:: I really wanted to get the Canon 5D Mark II but the 2.7K price was just not in the budget and I need to be realistic.  Instead I spent a little over $300 for a new sensor on my current camera.  I still plan on buying a lens that can fit infant photography (Canon 50mm f/1.2L USM here I come ::slurp::).  I also want to buy some lighting gear and a new Powershot.  This will be my forth powershot camera

I guess I should go back to practicing taking pictures. It has been almost nine months since I took a picture –embarrassing!

30 weeks

30weeks

10 weeks until my due date! I can’t believe how fast time goes by.  I’m sure before I know it I will be planning my babies first birthday party (YAYKS!).  Yesterday I saw a footprint come out of my stomach -it’s truly amazing! I have been blessed with the best pregnancy imaginable.  The only negative thing is getting gestational diabetes, but it’s not the end of the world. I just hope someone brings me a brownie or a poptart to the hospital :)

So this is me at 30 weeks.  Jared took this picture in our new house. Nursery is almost done and now we’re just waiting for Bubba to come.  Can’t wait to meet him/her!!!

Camera Deprived

I am almost 25 weeks (6+ Months) pregnant and in those six months I have not picked up my camera once.  I am truly camera deprived right now!  There are a few reasons why I have not taken a picture.  One; my back is killing me so I try to not walk so much, especially with equipment.  Two; my sensor is extremely scratched up so there are no clear pictures coming out of that camera.  (I really wish I would have learned how to properly clean the camera before using it).

I’m planning on sending the camera back to canon for a quote on a possible fixer.  If it’s too much money to fix it than I might as well just buy a new camera.  I have been drooling over the Canon 5D Mark II for so long but the $2,700 price tag is just not in the budget right now, especially with the baby coming soon.  Even though having a baby should give me more reasons to buy a better camera –ohhh the decisions!

So I’m thinking of selling a few items in hopes of getting the camera and a possible 50mm lens ::Drool::

Things I will sell…
-    My Monique Lhuillier wedding dress (photo above taken by Infinity Photo)
-    Canon 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS USM
-    Canon 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM
-    My blood

Craigslist, here I come!

On a side note, I cannot wait to take pictures of my baby!  Seriously, being pregnant is the most magical experience in the world.

National Geographic Workshop

img_1661Image has nothing to do with the post

Last weekend I attended a National Geographic Workshop/Seminar.  Bob Krist and Lee Hopkins were suppose to be the speakers but they were no where to be found, Eddie Soloway and Michael Melford were the two speakers instead. I was very disappointed at first and actually pretty angry but thankfully Eddie and Michael did a great job and the seminar was a hit.  But I’m still wondering what happened, did I read the names wrong? did I register for the wrong one? hmmmm…

The seminar was titled “Putting the WOW in your nature and outdoor photography” and I was expecting the seminar to be about travel photography.  I’ve never really been into nature photography but I was able to walk away with a lot of great insight and new visions. I really do believe that inspiration should come from every angle but I’ve never even though about nature photography.  At the end I’m glad I was a part of this seminar and have a new interest in nature photography now.

After the seminar I decided to set up my own projects, this way it will get me to take photos and have something to look forward to.  I will set up monthly topics and try to get 20 to 25 photos from each topic per month.  Since May has just began, May will be about ::patterns::

Lets get to work!

This weekend

I have a National Geographic workshop/seminar with Lee Hopkins and Bob Krist (hollar!).  Even though I am not a travel photographer and only dream of being one,  I still enjoy hearing photographers speak about their work and meeting them in person. No matter what type of photographer you are in, inspiration should come from every angle.

If that wasn’t good enough, I am going to hear The Dalai Lama speak at the Beacon Theater on Monday. I’m pretty much speechless and can’t believe that I will see him in person.

When I created my 101 things to do before I die in 2001, number 68 has always been meeting The Dalai Lama and I always thought I had a better chance in winning the lotto then ever being in the same room as him.  Well what ya know!?  I guess I should play the lotto more often.

If you’re gonna dream, dream big!

Ohhh Baby!

Wow, so I’m going to be a mom.  Or is it mommy? 13 weeks and counting! I barely have the right words to explain how exited I am.  I can’t wait to see what he or she will look like. I wonder if it will resemble me at all or my husband.

My home has more baby books than I can read in the next six months and they all have something good to say.

My favorite purchase so far are my mommy and daddy journals for baby. I watched a recent episode of Oprah and the father’s version of the book was on it.  I ran to Barns and Noble the next day and got a copy for myself and my husband.  I think every parent should write it for their child/children.  These journals are full of questions about you and your childhood which you write in a form of a letter to your child. I think it’s a great gift for your child to stumble up on when (s)he’s old enough.

Tots to Teens Seminar

sandy-puc

Sandy Puc is a family photographer.  From February till May she and her crew drive from Colorado all around America visiting many different states and doing seminars.  I stumbled upon her website sometime last year and purchased her book which was fantastic and I was hooked.  Since college I wanted to be a child photographer and her book really gives a lot of information on starting a studio and dealing with children.

I was so excited to find out she was touring and to my surprised she does it every single year! Last year was about babies, this year is about Teens and Tots, next year will be about family portraits.  The seminar was amazing and I was so excited to attend it.  I had to leave a little earlier so I missed a good portion of the actual photoshoot but I plan on purchasing some of her DVD’s to pick her brain a bit more.

Sandy is also a co-founder of Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep, a non profit organization.  Her amazing personality and good heart beams through as soon as she steps on stage.  The organization provides portraiture services to families whose babies will never leave the hospital.

I was extremely thrilled to meet her and be apart of seminar! can’t wait till next year.
